Wednesday Recap

Rd#9 MDRA at Doublin Gap MX

Articles - Wednesday Recap

Hello MDRA fans, friends and racers. This week has been, well lets just say more than a challenge. More like a night mare on my end of the rope. But that would not stop almost 500 riders from hitting up the DGMX track for some MDRA action. And with the RMZ bucks on the line. It surely helped bring in some speedy riders like Duffy, Archer, Cook, Good and many more. The classes where stacked with talent all the way across the board. Some of the youth classes had almost full gates, like 65 7-11 C class. Some 30 kids went hauling into turn one from that class alone. And that is a staple of the MDRA. The youth turnouts are among the biggest anyplace, in any series. The MDRA really does look out for the future of the sport and it shows in the fallowing by the youth classes week after week.

We has some great weather working with us all weekend long and the track was in as good of shape as it gets. A few small changes to the track allowed for some new jumping combo's and lines. There is not to many tracks around with a program like the one run at DGMX. In fact most tracks can only hope to run as fast and as smooth as the program run at DGMX. With a start time not until almost noon. DGMX is still one the first tracks to complete their program week after week, and year after year. Allot can be learned from the DGMX staff and their program. I also saw allot more racers into the transponders and seeing what the lap times really are. That's a good thing for it will not be long and everyone will have to use them. It's just a matter of time. The sky's the limit in that area. With transponders the norm, live timing and scoring is the next obvious step. But like anything else, all in good time.

Most of us all know and love the  #558 +25 and C rider of Kevin Speelman. He's a good guy that truly loves the sport of motorcorss. Kevin's in that  in between spot where he's not yet a Vet rider. So he's stuck in the tough 25+ class and Open C classes. Both are very tough. If it's not national riders like Jeremy Cook in his class. It's Loretta's bound riders like Sean Baxley he has to square up against. Not an easy task. But Kevin always has a smile on his face and keeps plugging away week after week. Good job #558!

Here is Will Beich #115 getting jiggy wit it over a DGMX table top on his CRF250. Will's got solid speed and form. Will laid down a solid 3-6-5 in the 250 A class. While Spangler and Schmelyun swapped the lead and moto wins. Bleich was consistent 3rd in moto one. Showing he has what it takes to run with the big names. Will's day was not so good in the Open A class, but that's a tall order to ask for out of your 250F with the likes of the guys in his motos.

Taylor Stevey #86 is one of the many great girl riders we have here in the MDRA. She's even working on her "bubba scrub" and has the form down really well so far. I have had many comments on this photo of Taylor this week. And yeah, she looks great here. While Taylor was able to edge out great friend Shayla Stephens #77 in the womens class. Taylor came up just behind the #77 machine in the super mini class. Both girls are great riders, and love to be at the track racing. And it shows........

Here is Maryland's Tyler Condon #916 doing his best scrub and rub in one of the B classes. Tyler has the skill and style to make the next step. Though this weekend at DGMX, he had his issues. A few falls and some bad starts is all it takes to ruin your day  in the tough B classes. Tyler rode well, but was always trying to catch up rather than just be able to ride his own race. When Tyler figures out the starts a bit better, he'll be hard to beat.

Kyle Sawas #5 is flying high here. This shot was taken Saturday in practice actually. But the #5 is giving at he can give it over this table top. Kyle had some issues on Sunday with a DNF in moto two of the 4-8 50cc open class. But before that he was right there in the top five. And that's as tall of an order as it is to run top five in the 250 A classes in the MDRA. The 50cc classes have some serious talent in them, as Kyle shows you here. Real nice form here by Kyle's #5 Cobra.

This is a position not many people want to be in here. Zach Helmick's #16 YZF just simple got cross rutted and the #45 of Jordan Helman #45 simply had no place to go but into Helmick's #16. Both riders hit the deck pretty hard with Helmick coming out on the bottom side of the mess. Helman was able to remount and get inside the top 10. While Helmicks bike was leaking fluid from the crash and his moto and day was done on this bike. This was surely a no-fault accident, but in motorcross they all suck!

Kenny Messerman #15 was top dawg in the 45 + class with a confident 1-1-1 on the day. The #15 machine had his hands full with riders like Brian Eichelberger's #552 and the #17 of Mike Farmer. But Kenny buckled down and charged past both riders to take the wins in both motos and obviously the overall with that perfect score. Nice riding Kenny.

RD#8 MDRA at Budds Creek

Articles - Wednesday Recap

Hello race fans and friends. This week the MDRA was at none other than the Budds Creek facility in southern MD where we saw some of the best racing of the year, as well as the weekend had a surprise national rider show his hand at the local level - Texas' own Sean Hackley #157. Sean gave the Open A class a try for some track time and I am sure to help keep sharp for the up coming national event in Milleville, MN next weekend. Sean's a veteran national rider with solid skills. And  I am sure any of the locals like Schmelyun and Archer would love to upset the national rider. Sean took moto one but crashed hard in turn two of moto two. He was seen leaving the facility splinted up and heading for X-rays after catching his front wheel on another riders rear wheel. I spoke to Sean briefly after the wreck and though optimistic he looked to be in some pain with limited range of motion in his left arm. I hope the #157 is back in action ASAP. Sean was not the only news from the MDRA round this week. The track itself was amazing and maybe the best news period?. Maybe the best I have seen the place, ever! I know some steady rain fell on Saturday and made a bit of a mess of things for us racers to practice. But Sunday couldn't have been any better. Maybe a touch hot, but hey, it is July?! And it also helped a lot that Jonathon was on his a game doing a great job all day longtaking cae of the track. I love this place for the same reasons many of you do, it's a national track that so many legends turned laps on and so can I still turn laps on the same track. Lets get to some highlights of the weekend and see how things went down......

Twigg's/919 designs rider John Bowlin #858 is taking this year very seriously. John's taking ago at the very tough 35+ class this year in TN. With names like Walker, Johnson, Evans and more. It's a bigger task than most know. These top several 35+ cats can still put in some solid laps. If you have fallowed the #858 for the last year or so, it's an easy spot to see that John has been working hard on his A game, and it's working! Good luck John in TN.

CycleTech/TLD #33 rider Jerod Stoner came out of the woods to give the MDRA race at Budds Creek a try. Jerod usually makes it out to a few MX races a year. Though his true home is in the woods. Where he seriously fly's!  He has some MX skills and when he shows up to do it, he does it very well still, considering. His 5-6-6 in the 250's and a 6-4-4 in the 450's were better than half the field. And its no secret that the  #33's work is all done on the KTM 250SX. Nice Job #33, hope to see you again soon.

State College's own Seth Galloway #36 almost snuck by me this week. Showing up in new gear and on a new bike! Seth is trying out the likes of a YZ125 right now. I personally think it's a push. The two bangers make you a better rider in my views. But it's a tough deal to balance going back and forth from the YZ125 and the RMZ250. Seth's results were not up to his usual self yet. But give him some time on the thing, and I bet he's right back in front in no time.

Here we have another Twigg/919 ride in Jacob Grove #456. I do think that this one's got the best shot at a national title as well. With a regional moto victory behind him. He knows the pace needed to win. He runs with a lot of A riders in the CB 14-24 class and last weekend was no different. Jacob and Davey Dicsiullo #172 swapped moto wins with Grove coming out on top in moto two. And the #172 was railing it all weekend, Davey actually threw a moto victory away in the 450A class, going down two turns from the finish. Both guys rode great this week. But Grove has his eyes on a title in TN.  And I think he can do it too. Good luck #456!!

The 65 7-11 C class had some 25 riders in the class this past week at Budds Creek, proving two things - the kids love the Budds Creek facility and the MDRA does a masterful job with the youth classes. No other series I now of keeps the kids at the for front like the MDRA does. And for kids just starting out, that's a great thing. The following the MDRA had with it's youth riders is second to none. The turn outs are always big and the talent is also always deep.  A true testament to the work put in for the youth classes by the MDRA. When you have a tested and proven product, it rings home with many parents. Who make the trip no matter where the MDRA is racing. These kids are tomorrows future C, B and A riders.  And they all do a great job as well.

Maple Shade, NJ's Melinda Giberson #663 is a solid staple in the women's classes all over the country really. But most notably she races right here in the D6 and MDRA series. She is a consistent rider and always a threat for the title by years end. She makes her weekly attack on the women's class on a MSR/MCC backed YZ125. Here Melinda gets a good start on the YZ125 and tries to make the most of it taking the inside over the # 347 of Lauren Plate's KTM. Melinda took her MSR/MCC backed ride to a 4-3-4 on the day. Scoring some of the oh so important series points. Melinda rides really well, and improves year after year. Go get'em girl!!

We have Woodboro, MD's own Gage Stine #10 here just rippen threw that soft loamy soil at Budds Creek MX park. Gage rides the very tough and fast 50cc 7-8 year old class. Again almost half a gate of riders in this class. Gage has got some great form here, head over the bars and on the gas charging having fun and really that's all any parent can ask for. To give it there all that day and just have fun. Most of the kids this age are all friends with one another and you'll find them playing after the motos over just any place. Somehting that always make me smile and wish I could go back in time too. Where mom and dad take care of it all. The kids just get on them and go........the simple life. Keep up the great rides Gage.

This Delta, PA native, Mark Hushon Jr #29 is a regular as well in the MDRA. And you will usually find this RM85 with the #29 on it at the front of the pack and pulling away. Mark is surely on his A game almost any time I see him. Mark's got great form, solid speed and confidence. Three of the best things any kid can have going for them. Marks a really fun kid to watch ride. Usually by moto's end Mark will throw out an "old school" no footer split, much like the 1990's KX #4 factory rider of the" Dogger", Ron Lechine. I am not sure Mark has any idea who the The" dogger " is, but he's got that no footer split down like he learned it from the man himself. Mark was a perfect 1-1-1 in the 9-11 B class on this day.

I dont think anyone could complain a bit with Sunday's race track. It was in tip top shape for the MDRA races. Jonathon Beasley really out did himself this time. With great track prep and maintenance all day long, the track was simply awesome to just look at. The track was so nice it had me tempted to make some laps on it myself. But I had to resist, though very tough to do when the track looked this good. This was the second or last, of the MDRA races at Budds Creek for the 2010 season. But already I am wishing 2011 would get here. I hope everyone had safe trip back home form the southern Maryland track. This week finds the MDRA with back to back events. DGMX is this coming weekend, and you will again, find the EastMX truck on site for both days. I can not say enough about the MDRA and the tracks involved. The series sponsors and our own sposnors are who make this all possible to even happen. Without the MDRA, AMS, EVO, GAP racing, Scott goggles, Yamaha, Tucker Rocky, MSR, Answer and Pro Taper this could not all happen. And of course you the racer, fan, family and more are at the core of what we do. Thank you Budds Creek for a great weekend of racing. I hope to see all of you at DGMX this weekend, 7-17 and 7-18, for round #9 of the MDRA series.

Unadilla Loretta Lynn Regional

Hello everyone. This past week was no ordinary week for me. To start it off with, I am about 12 hours away from surgery to plate up my broken callor bone suffered  from a crash preparing for the LLR about three weeks ago now.  Yeah it's been a rough three weeks or so now. But I did not let it stop me once I could get the pain under control. I spent last weekend at the Loretta Lynn Regional up in New York at none other than the most famous ( arguably ) motorcross track of all time, Unadilla! And WOW!!! Just coming up on the place gave me goose bumps. Thinking of all the famous racers, races, wrecks, wins and so much more that has happened over 30 plus years at this incredible place. As the fog lifted late Friday morning you could almost hear the names Hannah, Keller, O'show, Bailey, Stanton and more just ringing in your ears. Images I saw as a kid in Motorcorss Action and other publications still flashed back in my head like it was just yesterday.

Though this weekend saw no Pro AMA National, no USGP nor an MXDN race ( sorry, old school here on the MXoN?). But the Loretta Lynn North East Regional opened the gates to this great place for the Amateurs to give it a go. And trust me, they did!! Some 700 riders turned laps Friday on this famous track and it showed it!! This track was as rough and gnarly as I have ever seen it. Brutal, is what was said by most. Extremely rough and rutted and you better be on your game, becuase Unadilla's track was no joke. I may miss a guy or two in this article, I was helping my friends try to make the show as well. But the guys I mention, truly put on some of their best races ever, in the toughest track you'll ever ride. One former national rider was heard saying "they don't make like this back home boys, this is no joke!" And the best of the best rose to the top, and those who could not ride the tough conditions. Suffered greatly. I surely have to thank Jill Robinson from the Unadilla facility for letting us cover this event. The Unadilla track was so eagerly awaited on, some guys just paid the fees to practice on it Friday. And I do have to say the Unadilla staff did not let the track get as gnarly on the weekend. Lap times I saw on Friday were pretty tapped out at 2:05's, 2:06's. While Saturday saw they dip down under 1:55's.  That's almost 12 seconds difference a lap. I heard at one point the fastest laps of the weekend where both Team Green's Spangler and 39 year old Keith Johnson had the field covered with the three best lap times all weekend. In the 1:54's steadily I might add. Okay, enough of my useless bable. Here's some highlights from guys who did an amazing job last week and set for the big show in TN.

Team Green's Lowell Spangler #427 would not be out done this weekend, no matter what he had to do, Hole shot, bad start or on the ground. No matter what Lowell threw down and was not here to just get in, he was here to win everything!  And he did just that winning four overalls! He was riding maybe the best I have seen to date. Not to mention in tough ass rough national type conditions. Something that will only help the young PA native in the near future as he moves up to that level real soon. Great job Lowell, this is your year in TN. my friend.

We also were represented very well in the C classes. MDRA regular Sean Baxley #312 showed up in NY. to whoop some, and secure his spot down at Loretta's. And Sean did just that plus some. Sean was simply on the gas. Much like Lowell's rides, Sean was not going to take no for an answer. I watched on moto where I was not sure he was going to make the pass for the lead and or win. And Sean took some new lines, started jumping a section most were not. And just like that Sean as all over the leader. When he got in the back section he went wide and made the pass over the big double in the back. Sean too, looked the best I have seem and with momentum like this, he will be tought to beat. Good luck Sean, I got my eye on you in 2010!

That is KB5/Twigg rider Jeremy Cook #360 with a great start over the Team Green ride of Keith Johnson #6. Evan's, Conlon, Camacho Parson's, Kopp, and more are all in tow.  This is real tough class here. While Johnson and Evans where a notch above the rest, Cook rode great for a top 5. NY.'s Evo Camacho #88 was a solid 3-3-3. The Team green riders Johnson and Evans battled when they got together. In what I saw, only Evan's has a chance at matching Johnson's pace. The #6 of Johnson is running top 20 Pro National Pace still. And that is amazing for the veteran rider, and really really fast too.

The #9 of Mike Treadwell is another Ace in the hole so to speak for the Team Green crew. The #9 was rumored to be not at a 100% this week. But in the 40+ class he was as golden as mother gooses eggs! No one had nothing for the #9 Team Green rider in this class. And Mike was also top 5 in the 35+ class, even with not being 100%. Mike will be a factor in TN. for sure. So keep your eye on the #9 KXF450.

New Jersey's own Nick Desidario #57 threw down some serious motos up in NY. He went a perfect 1-1-1 in the 450B stock class and was top 6 in the 250 B class. Nick's been fighting a viral infection of some kind for sometime, either way for not being 100%, Nick was on the gas! Here he shows his best side for his lady fans, oh and trust me, he has them! I hope Nick can get healthy enough for six 20 minute plus 2 motos in what we all know will be brutal heat and humid temps. Great job Nick and good luck my NJ. fellow racer.  Yohe, Condon, and Good also made the big dance in one class or another as well.

Just as somethings never stay the same, some things also never change! The Gravity Cavity jump is one that you can go find pics of before the 1980's, 1990's and yet even today. This and the screw you section where crowd and rider favorites for many many years. And you can also make passes on both sections if you know how. In my days guys seemed to jst launch it father then most. Now it's the almighty scrub! Who can keep the gas on all the way yet scrub is lowest and get back to the ground first?! That's today's methods and they seem to work wonders, not to mention look cool! Seeing this jump alone, made me just want jump out there and tare it up. As much as I was into being here, I was just as bummed to not be able to ride the legendary facility.  Now I can say Friday, I am glad I missed. I am sure some guys beat them selves to much Friday to give it their all on Saturday and Sunday. It was that rough and tough on Friday.

The Unadilla track is simply legendary and for the racers who made the event and trip. They had a once in about a decade chance to ride the place. And I know anyone who made the trip, took home something that will last them life time.   As a local area reporter, I have to mention Steven Good, Tyler Condon, Dakota Yohe, Broc Schmelyun, and Dylan Slusser  all made the show and some of the guys even won some motos. Good luck guys and see you in TN.

The weekend was nothing shot of historic in my book. So many top fast guys form all of the country and out side the country as well. Evo Camacho is a Colombian native, here by via NY. for now. And I saw some Canadians as well on the track this weekend. The weather was a bit on the hot side. More so Sunday, but it was a great weekend for a race.  Keep an eye on some of the guys I mentioned. I do think a few of them can can have break out years in 2010. Good luck to all the riders you finished top 7 and top 5. EastMX will see you all again in TN. Keep the rubber side down folks......

Sleepy Hollow MDRA Rd#7

Articles - Wednesday Recap

The MDRA closed in on the Sleepy Hollow MX park just outside of Lebanon, PA this past week. The race saw YZF and RMZ bucks up for grabs and some 500 entries trying to get their slice of that and the points that go with the top 3-5 rides. There were southeast and mideast regionals going on this past weekend as well. And with that in mind, a 500 rider weekend is a strong number for any track. The Sleepy Hollow staff was on their game with help from Pagoda's Randy Kastle and DGMX's Jeff Yentzer. Both lent a helping hand to do anything that was needed this past weekend. I would like to thank both Randy and Jeff, as well as the Sleepy Hollow crew who did a great job all weekend. Sleepy is a great facility who, like me, wants to bring the big time race feel to the local level, each and every week. And this past week was no different. The staff did maybe the best job to date with watering and keeping the track in good shape all race day long. Surely the overcast conditions helped out most of the day. But anyway you slice it, it was a good job.

So you think your ready for the B class do ya? Well you better be on your A game if you think you got something for this group of kids. The EVO ride of #21 Ryan Clites got a little tag from the PR2 machine of #19 Tyler Conner (who probably got a bump from his inside as well). And the #142 of Paul Sanfelice and the #3 of Pagoda's own Richie Kastle take advantage of the bump and take the inside line to the front of the pack out of turn number one. Kastle and Clites held on to top 5 rides in this really tough class this day. While Sanfelice and Conner were 6th and 9th on the day.

Here Sleepy's own Todd Weindel #687, the KB5 rider is one of the best announcers in the business, if not the best. He's not a bad vet A rider as well. He grabbed the lead on that Casey Clark special RM250 in one moto and lead for a lap or so but something went wrong and it relegated to sub par finishes in the 35+A class. The #687 wasn't all bad this weekend. Todd laid down a top 3 in the Vet A class. And Garret Toth did something with #687 Todd failed to do back in his day ( much like myself though so? ) And that was earn some national points! Garret did the #687 proud this past week at Mt. Morris with a 26-20-23 ride. Pretty stout for his first time. And I know Todd was happy as well Good job to both guys, Todd and GT!

With two youth regionals going on in the SE and ME I thought the youth classes might be hurting a little in numbers this week but that wasn't the case at all really, Aside from a name or two, most where here to do their thing. Here Keith Gauge's #22 has the inside line over the #351 of Jack Rogers and the #211 of Jason Neidigh. Gauge and Neidigh held on to a 1-2 finish while Rogers had a few issues that had him run a 1-18-10. Not jacks usual results, but the speed was surely there. Good job kids!

EVO's Tim Beveridge #512 had a great day last week at the hollow. He put together a strong 3-3-3 ride but at some point the #512 found himself in the lead one moto. With a few mistakes by others, Tim was a threat for the win this day and it almost happened for the #512. Tim is a great Vet rider who is making great improvements each and every race. Rides like this one and Tim will find his advancement to B allot easier. Nice ride Tim.

This what you missed if you missed Rd#7 of the MDRA at Sleepy Hollow MX park. Some really great race conditions and race action. The overcast clouds on Sunday really helped keep the moisture in the ground a bit longer. Rough and rutted, it's way better to be a little on the moist side than dry. I think the track was in as good of shape as I have seen it in and that's from a little luck and some hard work by the staff.  Great job Sleepy Hollow!!

2010 made for some big changes for the Yamaha mounted rider of Micheal Davis, now #18, Mike changed bikes, numbers and all for the 2010 season and he seemed to be loving it as well. Here he leads the #914 of Mike Bear in the 25+ class were he held on to a 2nd place ride in the first moto. But moto 2 was the one that bit him. Mike was in a hard get off that caused a DNF in moto 2 and also twisted his YZ450F up like a pretzel. Mike was able to get up and walk off on his own power. But he quickly loaded up and was off. No word yet on any injuries, hope the #18 is just sore and nothing more. Nice ride #18 till that point.

I think this weekends race was just more proof that a solid series and great track can still pull in the numbers and have great day no matter what else is going on in the MX world. The Series is such that you know what your going to get week in and week out. Prices, rules, classes and much more are set and that go's a long ways in many racers minds and wallets. The track is one of the best and has been for many years. Yet that don't stop the Swarr family from trying to make it even better. That's the kind of people I wished owned all the mtorocross tracks I raced at. That's my kind of people and work ethic. If your not an MDRA member or regular, you are missing out on one of the best run series in the area. With gas cards handed out weekly, free entry fees for some also weekly. With the times as tough as they are, any help is good help. Thanks to the Sleepy Hollow crew, MDRA and all of you racers for making this all possible. We will see you all again in Budds Creek MD. for the next MDRA event in July. Be safe and keep the rubber side down......

DGMX Ultimate Series Rd#5

Articles - Wednesday Recap

PoorBest

Hello everyone to this weeks Wednesday Racap of the events from the Ultimate Series at DGMX last weekend. I fist have to apologize to everyone of our sponsors, advertisers, readers and fans for my absents last week from the Ultimate Race at Sleepy Hollow. As most of you know, I wadded myself up pretty good trying to get ready for my LLR in VA. Needless to say, it didn't happen and for the 5th time in 20 years, I will be injured and out of any chance to show my stuff in TN. I have personally been off a bit since the accident and not my normal self but I am making the best of the situation. Thank you all who emailed me, called, and left FB messages wishing me well. It really means a lot. And yes, I will be back ASAP too.  Now, enough of my excuses. Lets see what went on at the 5th Rd. of the Ultimate Series.

The  first thing I noticed about the weekend is that the track prep has really stepped up the DGMX facility. I am seeing more and more loam week in and week out. And it is a very welcome sight to see, at any track. We all know the program run at the DGMX is second to none. The facility is hindered by a 11:30 start time, yet I can not remember when its actually hindered the facility. So again like the entry fees changes from track to track. Why can one track do such a wonderful job, starting three hours later than most tracks do, yet get it done, and done well, with time to spare?! If your a track owner, I would seriously see what the DGMX staff is doing. And try my best to repeat it at my track.  Sooner or later it has to catch on with anyone who tries it. So I encourage anyone to ask Rod and or Jeff, what is the key, how do they do it week in and week out?  Or go watch them run the show, you will be impressed if you been around for any period of time in this sport. I can not say enough on the weather this weekend as well. One time it looked like it was going to get ugly with some serious steady rain falling. But no sooner did it get going and it passed. After that the track looked great once again. Now here is some captions and shots of the weekends action..........

Hello D-6, meet Gauge Brehm #803. One of the newest D-6 members, racers, and also a AMS/EastMX team member. Gauge has started off his career in the Ultimate Series just this year. And this past weekend, Gauge was a recipient of the Foundation 529's great work with a new Leatt neck brace. To help protect each and everyone of our kids they can possibly help. In my eyes the Foundation is second to none, putting top quality essential equipment on our kids right here. Though what got the foundation started is heart breaking. What has come of it, has to have some heart warmer feelings to it. Thank you Foundation 529, for protecting yet another kid. I ask all of you to help the foundation each and every time you can.

Addison Kramer made a switch in 2010 from the MCC KXF's he'd been on for some time now to a Lebanon Valley Cycles ride for the 2010 season. Addison looks really stout on the bikes. He took the first 250 A win with little trouble. Making his way around the #23 KX machine of Kerry Kaminskie Jr. But Addisson got a bit of bad luck in 250A moto #2. While not getting the best start this moto, he was pressured to make some passes and get to the front. And in the mean time, he and the AMS rider Matt Haougentogler #54 got tangled in a nasty way that Addison hung up under the bike for some time. Both riders got up and rode off but out of this moto. Addison was also 2-12-7 in the 450's. Find some consistency is the key now for the #207.

This weekend saw about 350 entries for the RD#5 of the Ultimate Series. Which is really a solid number when you take in to account that two regionals were going on this weekend.  And though the weather was questionable at times, it never became an issue on either day. The track was in great shape and with the fast moving program at DGMX, the weekend was big hit. I know parents love to get home at a decent time Sunday night to get ready for the dreadful Monday work schedule. So the early leave time is much appreciated by many. Nice Job DGMX.

One of NJ's Finest was on hand for the 5th Rd, of the Ultimate Series. Jmac has been on the MX scene since the early 1980's ( if not before that even ). I banged bars with Jmac in the 1990's at the nationals, then JMac ran under the #133. Now in the older ages, he lost the 1 for just a 33. And it does fit the Vet and Senior rider well. His MCC/MXG YZ450F sounds and looks real strong.  Jmac out together a solid 3-3-3 in the Vet A class and was top dawg in the 40 + class this past. Inching closer to the #31 of long time friend Barry Carsten's 40+points lead. The #31 was at Broome this past weekend and missed out on some points that Mac had no problem gathering up. Love seeing the older, once national riders out on the track yet today. Trust me kids when I tell you, if you want learn something for you pro career. Hit up one of the guys who's been there and done that!! Over and over and over.To many kids today seem to think they know it all. And that they can't learn anything from the aging Vet riders. Well I am going to go out on limb here a bit. But this weekends Mt. Morris National will open some kids eyes. When they are being lapped before the halfway point, if they make the show at all. Just because Jmac, Barry and more have hit their prime already, don't mean they cant help out the 17 year old rookie trying his first national out. It's a real eye opener to hit the pro level for 99% of the racers.

Shayla Stephens #77 can show you the short way around the track for sure. Shayla is one of the several great young women racers we have right here in our area. It does not matter if she's on the #29 CFR250 or her KX85, the girl is at the front of the pack each and every week. She tries hard and it shows. This week she got the better split with a 3-2-2 over Taylor Stevey's 2-3-3. Both toke a back seat though the #25 of Atalie Yingling who went 1-1-1. And you can not dispute that run by the #25, a real solid ride for Atalie. All the girls really do a great job getting dirty all across the D-6 tracks. My hats off to them for their effort and abilities. Great ride Shayla and the rest of the girls as well. I look forward to your races every week..

The #22 of Joey Deneen is another great up and coming kid. Joey has great style and some really solid skills aboard his YZ85. Joey's not afraid to throw out a whip or three as well. last year I got some good shots of the #22 really putting on a show at the DGMX facility. Joey was in a great battle with the Twiggs/919 rider Brandon Garlock #108. Brandon got the second moto win, which we all know takes the cake. But Joey's ride was one that kept the #108 honest and he did not let the #108 have it easily. These kids ride their hearts out every time on the track. They leave nothing on the table when it's race time. I have watched the #108 the last few years grow, it will be fun to see the #22 do the same as they make their way to the bigger bike classes. Good luck kids and I'll be watching ya..

This past week was great event, and if you missed it. Well that's why we are here! To give you the low down on the weekends events and highlights.  And though the weather looked ify, it was really a perfect weekend. Great racing action all weekend long. With new D-6 members and more coming out to the DGMX Rd. this weekend was one not to be missed. I have to say thanks to the D-6 promoters group for helping us bring you the weeks coverage. They stepped up their game in 2010 and made it possible to do what we do. We look forward to being the best place for all your MX news, notes and fixes. Our next event will be the Ultimate Race at DMX at the end of August. I hope to see all  of you make the entire series. You are the reason the series exists. And without you, their is no series, no coverage and no race! Thanks to all of you sport the EastMX.com stickers as well. We saw many of them this past week and again and only want that to grow as well. The DGMX was on the top of their game and a big thanks go's out to them for getting such a fast and great program run. Just from the posts made on D-6, you can tell people really appreciate getting home at a decent time Sunday. Thanks again to the D-6 track owners and DGMX. They all make this happen week in and week out.......see you in August racers, families and friends.
