It was 10 years ago this year that Etters Pa. own Stevie Herman hung up the boots after a very long and rewarding amateur and Pro motorcross career. And it was just last year RacerX featured Steve on the "where are they now" article. Steve started out his racing action in the early 1980's and before the decade was over, Steve earned a solid spot with Team Green. And he rode out of Cumberland Kawasaki camp in Carlisle Pa. threw out most of his amateur career. Then the York Pa. native speedster gained some real help from factory Yamaha in 1990 and 1991. Were B&B Yamaha was the local shop he rode out of. With Yamaha, Steve grabbed some qualifier wins at the Nationals and some top 10 Supercross finishes. That helped him sport his first national number in 1991, #64. He also earned #56, #84 and #87 threw the 1990's. In 1991 he came oh so close to a national title at Loretta's in the 125A Pro Support Class ( now Pro Sport class, and also MXSports rules are different now as well. ) That year Tim Ferry took the title, but it was not easy on the Florida native. Herman was leading the Kawasaki rider going into that last and final moto. But it was just not meant to be that day. And Ferry came away with the #1 plate that year. And Ferry, is still racing at the top level yet today.
