D6 Round 4 - Sleepy MX
This weekend marked Round 4 of the D6 Ultimate MX Series and the racing has yet to slow down as we near closer to the mid way point of the series. The 90 degree weather gave everyone a preview of what to expect this summer. Track conditions started off wet in practice due to some overnight rain but would dry up very fast and by race 20 of the first round of motos a water break was needed. Aside from the dust and heat, the racing couldn’t be any closer.
In the 85 classes #47 Michael Giovanniello followed by the #191 Addison Emory were the ones to watch. Both Giovanniello and Emory are running one and two in both Supermini 12-16 and 85 12-15B for the series and they stayed very close throughout the day. Emory would give up points later in the day with a few mistakes but finish out his day still close with Giovanniello.
The 250C and OpenC classes were packed as usual and we would see the top spot traded off a few times throughout the day. Series leader in both classes #422 Brad Roth took seventh in his first moto of 250C but go down hard early in the open C moto ending his day. #941 Calvyn Beck, #487 Fred Kramer and #891 Dylan Frey would keep close all day and gain valuable points at the end of the day. Braden Kruger won the overall in 250 C coming from 20th to second in moto 2.
The B class racing was stacked and had a full gate #142 Paul Sanfelice dominated early off the starts but could not keep it on 2 wheels. Bad starts would plague #35 Joey Peters and force him to work his way through the pack.
Lowell Spangler #427 would have his way with the A classes all day long. Spangler would jump out in front early and check out. Mean while the fight for second was different almost every moto between #461 Frankie Lettieri, #15 Kyle Sidle and #471 Ryan Zimmerman. Each one of these guys would have a chance at Spangler but half way through he would find a way to extend his lead. #207 Addison Kramer rode very strong to gain points on Zimmerman in Open A and also extend his own lead in 250A.
Classic Barry Carsten #31 in the vet classes but, it did not come easy for Carsten with #444 Gregory “Frenchie” Pamart and #930 Gaylon Dickson charging. One moto Frenchie would be half a bike length behind Carsten and another moto would give Dickson a shot at him. The second set of motos would see Dickson battle Carsten but again the #31 would find away to win it. Every race Frenchie and Dickson are getting closer and now with six to go we should expect the Vet classes to get even more tight.
Round 4 is in the books and with a few new race winners and point changes, the racing gets even more exciting going into round 5 at Dublin Gap. The first half of the season is almost over but there is more to come as summer gets closer and wraps up back at Sleepy Hollow for the final race. Special thanks to Sleepy Hollow track crew and Foundation 529 RIP Wyatt Barto.
